Becoming More Present Minded and Worry Free.

Being More Present Minded in a Ever Changing World

Repetition can be disastrous, its important to take what you can use from the past and throw the useless stuff out. Conformity is the downfall of even the greatest strategists. In a world where circumstances always change, the idea of comfort can sometimes be debilitating at best. When you can forget the past and become more present minded you are able to make better decisions and recognize multiple possible outcomes.

Consider the following tips to break off from the pitfalls of worry and the comforts of routine and enter yourself in a world of the new and bold:
1. Forget the Successes and Failures of the Past:
Trying to relive the past or avoid living it can drive someone crazy, it's impractical to try to recreate or worry about the past, you will never get the same thrill by repeating something, it will lose value every time, this is how a lot of addictions start. You can easily bring yourself back to the present moment and try new things by becoming more observant of the world around you. Many of us do not notice the world passing us by because we are stuck in our memories and day dreams.
2. Change/Update Your Style:
Always acting and looking the same will cause you to feel the same and be treated the same. If you change your style even moderately you will feel differently, this feeling will bring you a feeling of present mindedness. If you are someone who prefers the more casual "don't care" look and attitude, try a more professional approach to fashion and your way of dealing with things, alternatively, if you are always self-conscious about appearance and attitude, try something that says you are taking a more relaxed approach today. As long as they are positive changes people will notice and compliment on your change of appearance and attitude, this will aid in bringing you back to the present moment.
3. Exercise a More Open Mind:
Children naturally practice this tactic everyday, when they are upset they cry about something until they find something new and exciting to focus on, which can take place in only a few minutes, adults tend to brood on events for days and even weeks, because they tend to focus on the past. A child easily gets excited for the moment where adults often don't notice the small pleasantries of the present. Children are considered generally more happy and adaptable to change/learning, where adults are considered stressed out and fixed in their old ways. It's important to not conform to the personally set barriers of adulthood.
Keep an open mind to the small things in life, you never know what could totally change your attitude and change your outcome. Often when we come back to the problem after a pleasant distraction, we find a solution right in front of our eyes that we missed before. Obviously if the problem is too crucial to avoid it should be dealt with immediately, otherwise it will still be there when you come back from your break.
4. Practice Meditation:
One of the most highly recommended yet totally underrated methods for becoming for present minded is meditation. The latest Harvard studies claim it totally replaces the brains grey matter within 8 weeks, the result is presumed to be the thickening of the cerebral cortex walls which is associated with attention and emotional integration.
If you are one the many adults that has a wandering mind, one moment you are reading a book, the next you are worrying about a off handed comment your boss made last week and the next you are worried about the transmission problem in your car, then meditation is for you (as it should be for all of us!) with practice you presumably would be able to focus on the book and worry about your problems at a more applicable time.

The idea is not to worry about problems at the current moment, but to focus on them and fix them at a more convenient time when you can work directly on them, as opposed to doing 3 things at once where nothing gets completely done.

There are many other ways to become more present minded. These are just a few of the ideas which have helped many, what may work for them may not work for you and vice versa. Its important to keep an open mind at all times to all possible solutions, the key concept of all strategists. Experience is the best way to learn, where personally set barriers are the biggest anti-learning agents.
Think of the mind as a network of cogs, its essential to maintain the cogs and continue replacing the old broken ones with newer fresher pieces to keep a well running machine. A well running machine (brain,) equals a well running system (life.)
